Case study: Whitehaven Coal takes TAE40116 skillsets online

Whitehaven Coal is Forsythes Training’s first mining sector client to move to virtual classroom training which allowed them to continue their virtual TAE40116 training.

Eight staff from Whitehaven completed their three-day TAE industry training skillset this week. The staff were scheduled for face-to-face training but Covid-19 lockdowns & restrictions meant the training was moved to the online platform Zoom to bring all staff together with the trainer from their previous sites.

Using virtual classrooms, we can lock in and maintain Whitehaven’s critical training schedule into next year.  No interruptions or re-scheduling for either company.

The feedback from participants was very positive.

Online training solves Covid-19 lockdown issues

Forsythes Training's computer trainer, Wayne Robinson, training Council staff using Zoom

Forsythes Training is the expert in effective online training. Not just recorded videos and webinars, we create a virtual classroom using Zoom. Students still have two way access to an expert trainer and breakout rooms allow small group exercises and one-on-one support.

We’ve been quickly moving participants in face-to-face courses to online training. Online training is an increasingly popular option for our clients who want to train geographically dispersed staff together – Covid-19 or not.

We can provide every course via Zoom including Training and Assessment Education (TAE).

Coaching and mentoring skillsets

Leaders, managers and supervisors need mentoring and coaching skills to be able to get the most from their teams. Coaching and mentoring helps to build skills faster, facilitates confidence, makes performance management easier and fosters trust between managers and their staff.

We integrate coaching and mentoring skills into our skillsets in supervisory leadership, mining and community services and performance management courses.

Forsythes Training also partners with My Blue Collar Coach (MBCC) to offer coaching programs for the blue collar sector. MBCC coaches have extensive experience in the area of mentoring and coaching apprentices and tradespeople.

TAE Training – You get what you pay for

Many trainer providers offer TAE40116 Certificate IV Training and Assessment and other training online. But students often get a one-way experience through recorded videos and webinars. Forsythes Training uses Zoom to create a virtual classroom experience.

With cut price training courses, providers cuts corners in quality, student support and flexibility. TAE40116 is a challenging qualification. You need expert, experienced trainers and flexible delivery to fit student’s work and family commitments. Extra student support makes getting qualified easier and more enjoyable.

Read our blog on the key problems people experience with budget TAE training and why Forsythes Training is the smarter, more effective, value for money option.

Meet the Team – Kate Thiel

Kate Thiel is one of our TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment trainers. Based in Sydney and delivers both virtual classroom and face-to-face delivery (hopefully again soon).

Kate has received great feedback from a Department of Defence participant for her course delivery.

The participant said that, while military training is extremely effective and efficient at providing operational outcomes, he found great value in undertaking the training through a private training provider. He said Kate excelled in providing a human element and subtlety in her training approach.

“Your ability to cater for all learners throughout the course was commendable.”

“You have vast knowledge of VET in a broad range of industries, and the ability to contextualise these concepts to the learner. I particularly enjoyed some of the soft skills in preparing the learner to accept instruction through relaxation techniques, stretching and sometimes music.”
