Port Macquarie Hastings Council trains emerging leaders
Port Macquarie Hastings Council (PMHC) is using customised training in leadership and management to help develop its emerging leaders from its administration and outdoor teams.
The program has three skill set modules – using different units of competency from the nationally recognised BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management. Staff can use these units towards completing the full leadership and management qualification or other qualifications.
Feedback from participants who undertook the initial first skill set has been very positive, particularly the unit on emotional intelligence.
Learning & Development Officer Stuart Robb said Forsythes Training’s customisation gives Council flexibility to adjust the program and accounts for the fact that this is some participants’ first experience with formal study and training since school or higher education. Our trainer practically applies the concepts to Council’s operations and policies.

She brings more than 15 years of experience working in the mining, manufacturing, automotive and construction industries to the classroom. Applying her operational understanding of the risks and processes required to maintain a safe working environment.
