Case study: NSW State Emergency Services

More than two hundred NSW State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers have updated training and assessment skills thanks to a customised TAE40116 skill sets program. With support from Training Services NSW, we delivered the training via virtual classroom on Saturdays and Sundays over the past 18 months. Another eight dedicated programs will be run in the coming months.

The volunteers are now accredited and better equipped to deliver training or assess fellow volunteers in critical skills that support our community.

Insight: What are the WHS responsibilities of supervisors in NSW?

In our latest insight we look at the responsibilities supervisors have in relation to work health and safety (WHS). These responsibilities apply to managers and supervisors as well as people who unofficially supervise people. WHS includes both physical health and mental health.

Do you know your responsibilities and do you have the competencies and skills to meet these obligations?

Short Course: WHS Responsibilities for Supervisors

One solution to ensuring supervisors understand their WHS responsibilities is our popular short course. This one day, risk management program covers the WHS legislative framework, hazard identification, emergency management, incident reporting, notification and investigation, plus and creating a safety culture. The next face to face workshop is in Newcastle in May. Places are filling fast.

Answers to questions on new TAE40122 qualification

A new nationally accredited TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is on its way.

It is equivalent to TAE40116 which means people with that qualification DO NOT need to upgrade. Both TAE40116 or the new TAE40122 will be valid, minimum requirement, trainer and assessor qualifications. If you are currently completing TAE40116 you can confidently proceed with your current studies.

We’re piloting the new qualification and expect to start delivering the new qualification from July. Meanwhile, you can start TAE40116 training now.

We’ve compiled answers to frequently asked questions about the new qualification.
