Forsythes Training is innovating, using Zoom, to continue to safely provide organisations and individuals with high quality training during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are also safely resuming some face to face training.
We are continuing to develop our virtual classroom delivery strategy to meet changing conditions and keep training our clients.
UPDATE. Synchronised Training Rooms for Training by Zoom and Face to Face concurrently
As restrictions ease, we are safely reintroducing face to face training using strict protocols (see later in this post for more details).
The Forsythes Training Difference is that ‘Synchronised Training Rooms’ can provide virtual and face to face training concurrently.
This approach provides more flexibility for students and corporate clients. We can accommodate delivery method preferences while keeping groups of co-workers together.
Regardless of where they are, students will be able to see, hear and contribute to classroom conversations, including asking questions, doing group work, and presenting to the entire class.

Hundreds of students have already successfully transitioned to Zoom and the feedback has been very positive.

“I have found the TAE training using Zoom to be just as effective as face to face sessions. The use of breakout rooms has been fantastic, as we are still able to interact as we would in the classroom. I have also found the recordings to be very useful as well, as I have been able to rewatch some areas that I have needed to refresh, or able to catchup if I have missed a session. Yvette has been a great trainer, and is able to deliver the content to the participants in a very clear manner. Thoroughly enjoying the training!” Karina Braithwaite, HR Officer, Delta Electricity.
“The Excel training demo was the first time I’d used Zoom and I was really surprised at how easy it was to use. I actually think it works better than face to face for IT training as everything was on screen the whole time. I didn’t have to keep looking up to the screen in the front of the room and then back to my computer screen. Wayne explained everything very clearly so there was no time that I felt I was left behind. Well done Forsythes.”
“The platform works well, keeps participants engaged. Maintains that important connection whilst still physically isolating.”
I found the pilot VC computer session really user friendly. Wayne you made it easy to follow and it was a good steady pace, having the 2 screens I found to be very helpful. The fact that you could go back and repeat what you had just completed and interact directly with the trainer worked well.”
“Well done on moving into this space so quickly.”
“If participants are not required to actually type / write, and its more discussion based, the beauty is it can be done on ipad from the couch.”
Tony Gordon is a Unit Commander for Marine Rescue. Tony is one of a number of Marine Rescue staff who have started to successfully use Zoom to continue their customised training in Training and Assessment Education (TAE). Here’s what Tony had to say about his Zoom experience…
The subject matter was clear and simple to follow through the zoom system where by the end of the lecture I was completely aware of what I needed to get done before our next session and could work out a simple timeline as to the hours required to get it done…
I found it easier to follow than the face to face lessons and with less distractions. Overall I found the learning experience to be effective and concise and look forward to our next session…

Here’s what we are doing to protect and support staff and students during Covid-19
1 Temperature checks of all students prior to entering training venues.
2 Social distancing. We will have reduced numbers in classes and adjust training venue rooms to ensure we are enforcing social distancing rules.
3 We are being extra diligent with our cleaning and people protection measures.
- Sanitising every workstation and equipment between courses
- Ensuring staff members practice exceptional personal hygiene
- Increasing our regular cleaning schedules of our shared amenities, including bathrooms, door handles and commonly touched areas
- Disinfecting EFTPOS and iPad facilities after each use.
4 We have appropriate facilities for hand washing plus alcohol wipes and hand sanitiser available. (Please note due to limited stock of these items we do ask where possible you supply your own to allow us to keep supplies for those who cannot purchase their own).
5 We are asking participants and our staff to stay at home if they:
- have returned from overseas travel (until they have met self isolation or quarantine requirements)
- are feeling unwell for any reason (until they are symptom free).
6 We require all staff, participants and visitors to follow Covid-19 hygiene recommendations.
If training is impacted because of a staff absence we will make alternative arrangements and notify you in advance as far as possible.
