Case study: WesTrac Leadership Program targets apprentice supervisors
Leading Australian CAT equipment provider – WesTrac – has again turned to Forsythes Training. This time to help develop and deliver a pilot training program for its NSW and ACT frontline supervisors of apprentices and tradespeople.
The program supports the dual objectives of driving completion and retention of trainees and apprentices and making the commitment to career pathways a sustainable business practice.
Its been customised and contextualised to WesTrac’s competency framework, policies and procedures to incorporate key learning activities around developing people and teams, driving performance and accountability and living WesTrac’s values.

New skills for Liddell Coal workers as mine set to close
With Liddell Coal Mine scheduled to close in August 2023, Forsythes Training has delivered a range of skills training to support more than 50 employees to transition in the workplace to secure future employment. We worked with Training Services NSW and the site’s training department and management to identify training to meet the needs of employees. Participants completed courses in TAE40116, Project Management Practice, WHS and Leadership & Management.
Meet the team – Thomas Pulleine
Tom leads our new Resilience First Aid accredited mental health course and is an accredited trainer and assessor for our leadership and management, community services, risk assessment and WHS accredited courses and other training programs.
He brings industry and lived experience to the classroom. Tom has used a resilient mindset to recover from mental and physical injuries sustained while serving in the Defence Forces. He’s gone on to have a successful career managing security services. He’s also worked in veterans housing and business development following his Army career.
2023 NSW Job Trainer FEE FREE* TAE40116 Certificate IV Training & Assessment
The JobTrainer program has been expanded so both job seekers and existing workers can access fee free training to complete the TAE40116 Certificate IV Training and Assessment. Participants must commence training prior to June 30.
As an existing Smart and Skilled Training Provider, we’re only one of a handful of NSW registered training organisations to offer this valuable, subsidised training. We have limited places available which are filling fast. Eligibility conditions apply.
TAE40116 is the industry standard for people working as accredited trainers and assessors. It is a challenging qualification and not all providers deliver it in the same way.
