Training the trainers at Wests Group
Staff from hospitality business Wests Group have gained practical skills in structuring and delivering short courses and team training sessions to achieve desired training outcomes and maximise participant learning.
One of our specialist Training and Assessment Education (TAE) trainers, Deb Lay, delivered a customised and contextualised Train the Trainer workshop to 15 staff at our Newcastle training centre.
In our two day workshop, participants learn to determine what training is required and how to structure and sequence learning material to meet the needs of participants and the organisation. They also develop an understanding of how people learn, different modes of delivery, how to capture and retain attention, and how to successfully facilitate a group.
The feedback from the workshop was excellent, with some participants expressing an interest in completing the nationally accredited TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification. Here’s what one participant had to say about the workshop and our trainer.

Course spotlight: Leadership training
The BSB40520 Certificate IV Leadership and Management is a popular, nationally recognised, qualification for participants with some management experience and limited time, who want to develop skills to guide and support others effectively. There are 12 workshops spread out over 9 months. You can train your way – face to face or virtual classroom. We have public courses or can customise training at your workplace.
Prefer a shorter course? Our highly interactive two day Effective Leadership workshop is idealfor people newly appointed to management roles.

Course spotlight: BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
The nationally accredited BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety is a popular qualification for people looking for more in depth WHS skills including managing the overall wellbeing of people.
It is suitable for people who work under supervision and those who do not. You do need to be in a work environment where you can access workplace documents, implement feedback and changes in controls.
Study your way – either via Virtual Classroom or face to face. We also have a short course on WHS responsibilities for supervisors.

Project Management training – face to face or virtual classroom
The BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management equips project managers and project team leaders with the competencies to effectively initiate, plan, execute and evaluate projects. In seven workshops, spread out over nine months, you will gain skills in managing your work and the work of other project members.
This nationally accredited qualification can be delivered online via virtual classroom or face to face, including as a dedicated event at your workplace.
