Forsythes Training has new, accredited, supervisor leadership skillsets to help supervisors to be more effective in their role, sooner.
The skillset training packages focus on the skills and behaviours around effective leadership says Forsythes Training Director, Julie Carroll. They focus on different aspects of supervisor leadership such as developing others, mentoring and coaching, and team development.
She says it can be difficult for new supervisors to know how to get the best out of their team members.
“Emotional intelligence and building workplace relationships to create effective teams are essential supervisor skills ” Julie says.
“Just because an employee is technically good at their job, doesn’t mean they have those skills,” she says.
“If businesses don’t invest in supporting new supervisors, they’re often setting them and the business up to fail.”
Research by Gallup shows that supervisors drive employee engagement. Team leaders account for 70% of differences in team engagement.
Supervisor Leadership Skillsets for any Industry
Julie says the Supervisor Leadership Skillsets are essential for every industry. Several local councils have rolled out the new skillsets. Mid Coast Council is training supervisors in the Developing Others package. Supervisors of Council’s trainees and apprentices have completed a customised Mentoring skillset.
Council’s Training and Development Coordinator, Gabrielle Putland, says mentoring package participants report that the training helped supervisors to recognise their apprentice or trainees strengths and weaknesses and to develop their mentoring relationship. . She says the trainer was really engaging in delivering the training package too.
Customised and Contexualised Supervisor Leadership Skillsets
Julie says the skillsets can be customised from various competencies in accredited Leadership and Management as well as Training and Assessment Education (TAE) qualifications.
