Forsythes Training is now an approved training provider under the NSW Resources Regulators’ new learning from mining disasters training package.
We’ll run the MOC Mandatory workshop – learning from Disasters Program No 3 – until at least August 2024.
Program 3 is for practising certificate holders to satisfy their maintenance of competence requirement. But practising certificate holders may also undertake seven hours of other formal learning on disasters.
Learning from mining disasters
Learning from experience, to preventing reoccurrences, is a profound way to recognise those affected by mining incidents.
An interactive timeline of NSW mining disasters from the late 1800s communicates lessons from disasters and conserves knowledge within the industry. It links to information on a selection of disasters, including Royal Commission and other inquiry reports, articles, photographs and website links.
The new training package has three flexible training programs incorporating findings from investigations and reviews of mining incidents.
The three training programs
Program 1: One hour induction or refresher training program for mine workers.
Program 2: Two hour program for quarry managers with practising certificates with mine restrictions conditions.
Program 3: One-day program for practising certificate holders to satisfy their maintenance of competence condition.
Programs 2 and 3 integrate with requirements of the Maintenance of Competence Scheme.
