Expert trainers, contextualised training and virtual classroom capability have been key to ensuring Marine Rescue NSW members have the training and assessment (TAE) skills they need to carry out their life saving work, despite the COVID pandemic.
Over the past two years, Forsythes Training has delivered Training and Assessment Education (TAE) upgrades, skill sets and Cert IV TAE 40116 qualifications to more than 50 Marine Rescue NSW volunteer members across NSW.
General Manager Training and Capability, Chris Butler, said he has had nothing but great feedback from participants and regional training managers about the quality of TAE training delivered by Forsythes Training.
“We thought using ZOOM may be something some members would find difficult, but it has turned out to be a very beneficial training delivery platform,” Chris said.
“With the support of Forsythes Training, online training has been very easy for us and our members,” he said.
“They quickly got used to it and it brings a great deal of flexibility.”
Customised TAE training using ZOOM virtual classroom
Forsythes Training uses ZOOM to create a virtual classroom for participants and the trainer, regardless of their location. Participants can interact with each other and the trainer, unlike online training using recorded videos and webinars.
Chris said, importantly, trainers relate course content back to Marine Rescue, making it more relevant and applicable to members. He said Forsythes Training’s trainers appreciate and tailor delivery to the fact that participants are volunteers with many other commitments.
“TAE40116 is a difficult course so the quality and expertise of trainers is vital to maximising learning outcomes.”
“And there is additional support for members outside of the ZOOM sessions when they need it.”
“The Forysthes Training course graduates have the skills and confidence to be effective trainers and assessors.”
He said the administration by Forysthes Training is seamless too.
“With members and training managers across the state, it is important for us to have an easy enrolment, reporting and administration process. We have direct access to Forsythes Training’s CEO Chad White which is another example of their client focussed approach.”
