New skills for workers at Liddell Coal as mine set to close

Forsythes Training has delivered a range of skills training to more than 50 employees at Liddell Coal Operations, Liddell Collieries and Liddell Coal Preparation.

Liddell Coal Mine is scheduled to close in August 2023.

Forsythes Training, in partnership with Training Services NSW, has worked with the site’s training department and management to identify training programs to meet the needs of employees.

Courses include the:

• Certificate IV Training and Assessment Education (TAE40116)
• Certificate IV Project Management Practice
• Certificate IV WHS
• Certificate IV Leadership & Management

Forsythes Training Director Julie Carroll said training is about supporting employees to transition in the workplace to secure employment in the future.

“Whether that is in other coal mining roles or in a different career path,” Julie said.

“Liddell Mine is doing a wonderful job supporting its employees with this training whilst they are currently working.  This will provide them with improved employability skills to gain future employment”.

Training Services NSW played a major role supporting these training programs providing the funding to cover the cost of the training.

Julie said Forsythes Training’ used the broad skill base of its trainers to provide customised training programs.
