Congratulations to MidCoast Council staff for embracing new ways of learning – completing computer training online via Zoom.
When COVID-19 restrictions came in to effect, MidCoast Council thought it would have to completely cancel and reschedule the Microsoft Excel and Word training.
As part of our new online training strategy we created a ‘virtual classroom’ for Council staff and our Microsoft certified trainer and computing expert Wayne Robinson.
“Staff are to be congratulated on adapting so well to the changes and for embracing the changes so positively,” MidCoast Council’s Training and Development Coordinator Gabrielle Putland said.
“Well done and thank you for all your hard work in pulling this together – a great success!,” Gabrielle said to our Forsythes Training team.
The feedback from Council staff has been very positive as they are able to continue with their computer training as planned, just from their own workstations. Some staff said they find training via ZOOM better than classroom training.
A senior Council staff member said “Wayne has been a very well-informed and patient instructor in both excel and word. His use of the new zoom classroom format has been great and made it easy for me to engage and participate while testing in real-life documents (using a multi-screen set-up).”
“I would be happy to use this format of training again and recommend Wayne as an instructor,” the staff member said.

“I was a bit sceptical as to how I would personally learn the excel training level 1 via zoom this morning. It went great. Wayne is seriously a great trainer, explains things well and he covered almost all the things that annoy and waste my time when I use excel. In fact after the virus goes away Zooms the way to go for software training provided someone like Wayne’s running it. I’m actually looking forwards to tomorrow’s level 2 session”.
