A picture tells a thousand words and that is certainly true of a diagram called the Human Synergistics Circumplex that benefits organisations and leaders.
The Human Synergistics system has been around for 40 years and used by tens of thousands of organisations around the world. Its Circumplex provides a way to see, measure, and change the thinking and behavioural styles proven to drive the performance of individuals, teams and organisations.
Not only does it show behavioural styles, it starts to provide a common language that you can use to quantify and discuss individuals’, teams’, managers’ and leaders’ behavioural styles and approaches, as well as the culture of your organisation.
The Circumplex breaks down the factors underlying performance effectiveness according to 12 behaviours or styles which are further grouped according to three general style clusters – Constructive (blue), Aggressive/Defensive (red) and Passive/Defensive (green). People are more effective in organisations the more they display constructive styles and the less they display the other styles.
The colours make the diagram even easier to analyse. You can compare the styles of individuals, teams and organisations. You get to see strengths and areas to work on.
