Congratulations to Jye Hall for being named the Vocational Education Student of the Year at the 2023 NSW Training Awards Hunter and Central Coast.
Jye works for Newcastle-based steel manufacturer Infra-build in a team leader role. He recently completed a Certificate IV in Leadership and Management (BSB40520) and a TAE16 industry skill set with Forsythes Training. Jye is currently undertaking a Diploma in Engineering.
Forsythes Training Director Julie Carroll presented Jye with his award. She congratulated Jye and wished him every success with his future career.
“Thank you to Infra-build for the opportunity to support Jye and other team members who are building their skills and knowledge to become your future leaders,” Julie said.
Infrabuild Workshop Superintendent Aaron Mahaffey thanked Forsythes Training for supporting Jye to get to the position to win the award.
“Jye spoke very highly of the training he received from your trainers in both the TAE and the Cert IV Leadership courses,” Aaron said.
“Hearing the endorsements from Jye and a few other staff that have been involved in your training, it has been a good partnership,” he said.
The award winners were announced at a Department of Education event on June 23. The annual awards recognise outstanding achievements in the vocational education and training sector across seven categories.

- Trainee of the Year
- Vocational Student of the Year
- School Based Apprentice/ Trainee of the Year
- VET in Schools Student of the Year
- Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year
- VET Teacher/ Trainer of the Year.
The winners will represent the Hunter and Central Coast Region in the state awards.
