AGT foods staff more confident to meet challenges through agskilled supervisor training program.

Forsythes Training has helped the Narrabri team of AGT Foods Australia’s take their management and communication skills to the next level.

AGT’s NSW Business Manager David Kneale says the company has a focus on continual staff development. He and seven colleagues took part in a customised supervisor step up program delivered by Forysthes’ expert training David Turner as part of the NSW Government’s AgSkilled program.

David Kneale says not all of the staff were managers but they were key influencers in the team. He says all of the staff benefited greatly from the training particularly in thinking about how to better interact with customers and each other.

The team received a training program contextualised to the specific issues facing the agriculture sector as well as AGT’s business needs.

There was a focus on:

• delegation
• time management
• leadership styles
• communication and workplace relationships
• teamwork and organisational goals.

David says the program was challenging and very worthwhile. “I couldn’t suggest a way to improve it.”

He says the trainer had great skill in presenting information differently to the various members of the team to suit their learning style.

“He had a lot of life experience, experience from other industries and he gave us some really informative and helpful case studies.”

“I liked that you knew he had experienced and worked on the issues we were facing, he wasn’t just taking information from a text book.”

AgSkilled is NSW Government funded vocational training helps on-farm staff and industry professionals drive the productivity, profitability and competitiveness of the cotton and grains industries. Forysthes Training is an accredited AgSkilled provider of training under the program.
