Each session is delivered in a live classroom environment via Zoom where students and trainers can interact as a group as well as individually.

TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is a nationally recognised qualification that is designed to prepare individuals for the role of vocational education and training (VET) teachers, trainers, and assessors. The qualification is suitable for those who are seeking to enter the VET sector or for those who are already working in the sector and wish to design, deliver and assess competency based training.
As stipulated by ASQA TAE40122 participants must conduct the training deliveries in person/face to face (3 x 30 minute group training sessions and 2 x 30 individual deliveries).
Forsythes Training offers our students two options:
- Students video record and submit their in person training sessions. Students will require a group of four (4) adults for 3x 30-minute group training sessions and two (2) other adults for 2x 30-minute individual training sessions
- Attend our venue Newcastle NSW to conduct the deliveries in person and be observed by one of our trainers and assessors.

This course is organised into twelve (12) units of competency, made up of six (6) core units plus six elective units
The program is comprised of:
- Thirteen (13) live virtual classroom sessions
- Optional additional two (2) days held face-to-face in Newcastle NSW for 3 x 30 minute group training sessions and 2 x 30 individual deliveries
- Access to all student resources including participant guides, assessments via canvas
- Access to E-learning resources, recorded assessment tips
- Learn from certified experienced trainers with real-world experience.
- Participate in interactive learning experiences, capturing some practical components of program in class
- Feel supported through your studies with our dedicated Student Support Days
- Optional One on One support sessions for participants who may require additional support

Who Should Attend?
TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is an essential qualification for anyone who wants to pursue a career in the VET sector, as a trainer and assessor.
These individuals would require the skills to plan, prepare, deliver, assess and improve vocational training. Individuals should be engaged in a training and education environment or have vocational skills at a level that supports training and education in the subject area in which they intend to teach.
The technical expertise achieved in this qualification may be utilised in, and is not limited to, the following job roles:
- Enterprise trainer
- Enterprise assessor
- RTO trainer
- RTO assessor
- Training adviser or training needs analyst
- Vocational education teacher
- Employees who need to achieve this level in the workplace. These people may have experience but lack formal qualifications.
- Qualifcation is delivered with a mix of supervised and unsupervised training
- Total of 154 supervised hours including support days
- 10 hours a unit of comptetency – research and study 120 hours
- Workplace practice totallying 216 hours
Pathways
After achieving TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, participants may undertake TAE50116 Diploma in Vocational Education and Training or TAE50216 Diploma in Training Design and Development.

Learners will need to complete a language literacy and numeracy assessment online during the enrolment process and demonstrate their learning capacity to undertake course.
- Three years work experience, vocational qualifications or skills and knowledge
- To ensure that a participant enrolled in this program can fully meet the requirements outlined in the qualification they must be currently working or have access to workplace documents and stakeholders/6 adult learners who support their training and assessment
Those entering this program must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area.
Participants are required to bring their own laptop and must be comfortable in completing the following tasks on a computer:
- Saving documents to folders
- Saving documents to the cloud
- Easily accessing/locating files on their computer quickly
- Using tables to complete templates
- Able to minimize, reduce page size, open files
Participants will also need to have access to Microsoft Word.
Virtual TAE40122 Students as stipulated by ASQA must be able to video record their in person training sessions ( Virtual students will need a group of four adults for the 3 x 30 minute group training sessions and two other adults for individual training 2 x 30 minute sessions )
It is also recommended for participants who are completing the qualification virtually to have access to two (2) monitors.
Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification.
You will be asked to complete a series of questions relating to your previous employment and training history. You will be required to agree to and provide written permission for Forsythes Training to contact your employer.
Recognition of Prior Learning
For participants not wishing to attend classroom workshops, skills recognition through an assessment only pathway is available through a formal RPL application process where previous industry experience applies.
AQF Qualifications and Statements of Attainment are recognised at enrolment or during the course through the Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer process, provided qualifications are relevant to the course undertaken are current.
