This course is a unit of competency in our nationally accredited Diploma in leadership and management course. Experts agree that emotional intelligence is a key requirement for successful leaders and managers and it is lacking in many Australian workplaces.

Emotional intelligence is the ability to be self-aware and to self-regulate. Emotionally intelligent leaders and managers know their strengths and challenges and how to achieve outcomes. Just like IQ is a measure of intelligence, Emotional Quotient (EQ) is a way to measure how well you interact with people. The more EQ the better a leader is able to recognise emotions in themselves and others, and how they manage these emotional states to motivate and have better relationships.

Consider these stats

  • EQ skills add 390% incremental profit; while high analytical reasoning contributes only 50% more incremental profit.
  • EQ is responsible for 58% of performance in ALL types of jobs.
  • 90% of top performers have high EQ.
  • People with high EQ make $29,000 more annually than their low EQ counterparts.

We aren’t born with EQ but it can be taught.

The Forsythes Training Difference – Human Synergistics

Our trainers are accredited experts in emotional intelligence and are all trained in Human Synergistics tools.

These tools give you a deep insight into your own as well as other people’s current thinking, behaviour and leaderships styles. They also allow you to see how others view you.

The course starts with the first principle of emotional intelligence – Self Awareness and builds on this concept throughout the day with the LSI1 Circumplex being completed twice during the session. Firstly the participants complete the circumplex based in their Ideal Manager – the person who will get the most out of them.

They then complete the circumplex based on their own actions, reactions thinking and behaviours. The session then focuses on goal setting with the aim to become more effective and efficient in all aspects of their lives.

Image 1 – this typically represents the conceptual image that participants create when drawing their Ideal Manger – the person who gets the best out of me.

Image 2 – shows a sample student circumplex. This gives them a visual comparative of the areas they need to work on.

Forsythes Trainers give a thorough debrief covering the behaviour and thinking typified by each of the circumplex areas to assist participants to identify the areas they need to work on.
