Austin Engineering Ltd have recently accessed and secured Smart and Skilled funding through Training Services (NSW).
Whilst Austin Engineering workers are yet to complete the funded training programs we would like to express our sincere thanks to Julie Carroll of Forsythes Training for her assistance through the application process. Austin Engineering has tried previously to secure funding in a bid to upskill our local workforce during a downturn in our Industry without success.
Initial applications were made through the local TAFE. Unfortunately our application was unsuccessful. Anne Belcher from the Department of Training Services (NSW) payed Austin Engineering a visit to meet with us and outline options available to the business with regard to training and upskilling our existing workforce. Anne forwarded Austin Engineering’s details to Julie Carroll at Forsythes Training for follow up. Austin Engineering was contacted by Julie and a meeting arranged. This meeting was very insightful and a decision was made to submit application again. The application process made easy with the assistance of Forsyths Training. Communications through the process were effective and successful.
The securing of funding for training has enabled Austin Engineering to fulfil training requirements that local mining sites have deemed mandatory moving forward. With minimum staff left following the mining down turn and no training budget what so ever – along with risk of further retrenchments offering this training has been a wonderful thing for Austin Engineering employees and the organisation as a whole.
