This specific Industry course which incorporates 2 units of competency from the Training and Assessment package is designed to provide participants with critical skills in delivering and assessing small-groups.  Two of these units could be used in the full Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40122  qualification.

This know-how is core to organisational success given the effectiveness of such training in adult learning situations. It is designed for people who have extensive knowledge and skills in a particular subject and will have the responsibility for training and assessing their colleagues.

After recent client consultation attended by  NSW Coal Regulator and stakeholders from Whitehaven, Glencore, Thiess, Bloomfield and Yancoal, the Order 34 requirements for the TAE40122  were reviewed.

The outcome of the review is the following two units were nominated , with a maximum of ten persons per program. The allows for the extended delivery duration of the practical observations to be accommodated, based on the performance criteria in the new TAE40122 version of the units.

Forsythes Training has a variety of training and assessment strategies to support the mining industry in meeting the requirements of the Order 34 (NSW) as well as your Training competency management Scheme/system (TCMS).

Course Structure

This course is organised into two (2) units of competency from the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification:

  • TAEDEL311 Provide work skill instruction
  • TAEASS412 Assess competence

The program is comprised of six face to face classroom workshop, with maximum of 10 students.

Part of the program contains sections of self-paced learning where participants are required to complete some assessments within their workplace/outside of classroom workshops. This includes on-the-job learning, research and additional reading.

Forsythes Training has grouped the units of competency into two (2) clusters (listed below) which provides more opportunity for flexible delivery and assessment.

Participants must attend clustered units in a block of consecutive training days.

Once consultation has taken place and been finalised with the employer, Forsythes Training will send the employer information to send to potential students which includes but is not limited to the following;

  • Details of the units of competency students will be participating in
  • How the course will be delivered
  • How students will be assessed
  • What resources we will provide
  • Student support that we offer
  • How we will customise the program to ensure it is relevant

This ensures potential students have been provided with upfront information before they enrol into the course and allows them the opportunity to ask any questions and/or determine if the course is right for them.

Who should attend?

This course is for trainers and assessors wishing to obtain the formal training and assessment competencies to assess according to industry requirements.

Individuals should be engaged in a training and education environment or have vocational skills at a level that supports training and education in the subject area in which they intend to teach.

The technical expertise achieved in this qualification may be utilised in, and is not limited to, the following job roles:

  • workplace inductions
  • workplace mentor
  • Employees who need to achieve this level in the workplace. These people may have experience but lack formal qualifications.

Pathways

After completing this course, participants may choose to complete the remaining required units of competency to achieve the full TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification. The course also provides an opportunity for existing workers to obtain a statement of attainment for the skills already acquired with experience.

Entry Requirement

Those entering this program must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area.

Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification.

You will be asked to complete a series of questions relating to your previous employment and training history. You will be required to agree to and provide written permission for Forsythes Training to contact your employer.

Recognition of Prior Learning

For participants not wishing to attend classroom workshops, skills recognition through an assessment only pathway is available through a formal RPL application process where previous industry experience applies.

A Recognition kit will need to be completed. AQF Qualifications and Statements of Attainment are recognised at enrolment or during the course through the Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer process, provided qualifications are relevant to the course undertaken are current.

Job roles include enterprise trainer, enterprise assessor training adviser or training needs analyst.
