How OCE exam mentoring can help?
The OCE exams are difficult and have high failure rates. It costs time and money to re-sit examinations.
Many people doing the exams have not studied for these types of exams for some time or at all. They are not used to doing, closed book, written exams in short time periods nor doing oral exams. Our mentor will assess a participant’s abilities and needs and customise mentoring accordingly.
An OCE is responsible for ensuring a safe work environment by applying the safety and health management system in and around work areas of surface excavation, including monitoring the quantity and quality of output, supervising others, and applying solutions to non-routine problems.
Core Mine founder and director, Kim Nguyen, has 25 years’ experience in the mining sector. Kim had varied operational roles across NSW mines and mining companies before moving management roles. He spent nine years in the Coal Competence Unit, writing and marking exams, as well as assessing candidates in their oral exams.

Forsythes Training also offers RII40220 Certificate IV in Surface Coal Mining (Open Cut Examiner). This is the prerequisite course for those who have not done a Bachelor of Mining Engineering through an Australian university.
