Overview
Forsythes Training in conjunction with industry has designed a step up program specifically designed to introduce the roles and responsibilities of being a team leader.
Often industry promotes the best technical or trades person to a team leader position without investing in their people management skills.
The following course is designed to develop the key components of leading a team
- Delegation, time management
- Leadership styles
- Developing teams
- Communication and workplace relationships
- Teamwork and organisational goals
The leadership training program can be employer specific and incorporate processes and documents specific to that organisation. The learning outcomes are competency based so successful completion can result is obtaining six units of competency that can be direct credited towards the Certificate IV in Leadership and Management.

This is primarily a planning task and incorporates a range of activities that need to be completed during the course and time allocated.
They form part of the assessment. Some activities require more work than others and you will need to plan the completion of these activities.
This involves Knowledge Questions, Case Studies and the development of Business documentation.
Knowledge Questions – designed to ensure participants have a solid understanding of the underpinning knowledge of management principles required for this level of application in the workplace.
Role Plays
A role-play exercise is an assessment activity in which participants act out an imaginary scenario that closely mirrors a situation that could occur in the job they have applied for. There are four (4) Role Plays in this program that address the following areas;
- Coaching
- Mentoring
- Brief performance discussion
- Conflict Role Play
Management Interviews – Participate in a Management Interview where you will be required to provide specific examples of how you showed leadership in your workplace.
