The Operate a Gantry or Overhead Crane course is designed for students required to operate bridge and gantry cranes.
The course is designed to give instruction on sling selection, safe lifting practices, practical application skills and pre and post inspection techniques.
This course gives both theory and practical instruction on the safe Operation of Gantry or Overhead Cranes. It includes risk assessment, pre and post use inspection of equipment, job step planning (JSA/ SWMS) and practical application of crane operation as per Australian Standards, Worksafe, OH&S and other statutory requirements.
Theory and practical instruction on the following:
English (language, literacy and numeracy). PPE including high visibility clothing (long sleeve shirt and pants), steel cap shoes, safety glasses and rigging gloves.
Students will be assessed on practical activities (providing communication to a crane driver and conducting a number of lifts) and a written assessment.
This course is delivered at training centres nationally and customer sites (where a bridge and gantry crane is available) via PowerPoint presentations, audio-visual material, individual and group activities and practical applications which simulate real working environments.
