Who should attend

The Conduct Lifting Operations course is designed for students required to undertake lifting tasks in all surface environments.

The course is designed to give instruction on safe lifting practices, practical application skills and pre and post inspection techniques.


This course gives both theory and practical instruction on Lifting Operations.

It includes risk assessment, pre and post use inspection of equipment, job step planning (JSA/SWMS) and practical application of safe lifting practices as per Australian Standards, Worksafe, OH&S and other statutory requirements.

  • Lifting Plan
  • Wire Rope & Slings
  • Alloy Chain Slings

Pre-course Requirements:

  • Lifting/Spreader Beams
  • Synthetic Slings
  • Lifting Shackles
  • Lifting Eyebolts
  • Chain & Lever Blocks
  • Cranes & Overhead Hoists
  • Crane Pre-start

English (language, literacy and numeracy). PPE including high visibility clothing (long sleeve shirt and pants), steel cap shoes, safety glasses and rigging gloves.


  • 8 hours


Students will be assessed on practical activities and a written assessment.

Delivery Method:

This course is delivered at a training centre nationally and customer sites via PowerPoint presentations, audio-visual material, individual and group activities and practical applications which simulate real working environments.
