Qualifications in Frontline Management are the most popular generic qualification in Australia and an
essential ingredient for the effective development of up and coming supervisors and managers.
What is a Frontline Management qualification?
The Frontline Management initiative was developed to help Australian organisations to improve productivity
and management performance in the frontline from team leaders through to line managers with responsibility
for the strategic direction of the business.
The qualification incorporates units from frontline and strategic management domains. The qualification is
applicable to anyone with management responsibility across the full variety of organisations within the
Australian economy.
Forsythes Training are currently offering the following qualifications from the BSB07 training package:
- BSB40807: Certificate IV in Frontline Management
The Certificate IV is designed for workers in team leader, supervisory, front desk or line management positions.
At this level frontline managers provide leadership and guidance to others and take responsibility for the
effective functioning and performance of the team and its work outcomes.
Qualification Rules
The
Certificate IV qualification reflects the role of individuals who take the first line of management in a wide
range of organisational and industry contexts. They may have existing qualifications and technical skills in any
given vocation or profession, yet require skills or recognition in supervisory functions. Typically they would
report to a manager.
The
Certificate IV qualification is made up of 10 units of competence, consisting of
4 core units and
6 elective units.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the process of recognising competencies obtained by an individual
through previous or current work experience, life experience or training.
A student may be considered for recognition if they have:
| | Successfully completed a similar module or subject in a course studied with another Registered Training Organisation (RTO) |
| | Relevant industrial, workplace, community or life experience |
Recognition requires that a student provides evidence of either previous Qualification/s or
Statement/s of Attainment or detailed evidence of their current competency.
The evidence usually entails examples of:
| | Direct evidence e.g. video of demonstrating a workplace procedure; a completed work project |
| | Indirect evidence e.g. a project completed off the job such as a research project |
| | Supplementary evidence e.g. third party reports from peers or supervisors |
The evidence may cover individual units of competency or a number of competencies
A route to learning can be planned with the candidate and the assessor.
Forsythes Training recognises equivalent Statements of Attainment and Qualifications
issued by RTOs Australia wide. If a student believes that they have already achieved the same,
or similar competency with another RTO they may like to apply for credit transfer.
Students wishing to apply for credit transfer will need to provide either an original or
certified copy of their qualification.
The units of competency that make up the qualification will be checked against the current units.
In some cases the student may only receive partial recognition if the units have changed or new
elements have been added.
Forsythes Training reserves the right to check with the other RTO the training and units
of competency that made up the qualification.
Credit Transfer means credit towards a qualification granted to students on the basis of outcomes
gained by a student through participation in nationally accredited courses with another RTO.
Credit Transfer is available to any student enrolling with Forsythes Training.
